Catalyst Group & Obi

Catalyst Group is a Dublin-based multi-disciplinary ESG, Technical Advisory and digitalisation consultancy with specialist expertise in the real estate, property and construction sectors. With a team of over one hundred specialist consultants, the company works with some of the world's largest property funds, developers, and investment managers to make the built environment greener and safer.

When 5FilmsMedia began working with the organisation, it operated as i3PT Certification, a leading provider of assigned certifier and building compliance services in Ireland. Over the partnership, the company underwent a significant rebrand, evolving into the Catalyst Group we know today.

In parallel, Catalyst developed Obi, a proprietary SaaS platform for construction project management, site inspections, and ESG reporting. 5FilmsMedia served both brands simultaneously throughout the partnership.

THE CHALLENGE

A growing company without a consistent content partner

When Catalyst (then i3PT) first reached out, the company was growing rapidly, but its content infrastructure hadn't kept pace. Several interconnected challenges created friction across the business:

  • No dedicated media partner: content was produced ad hoc, resulting in an inconsistent brand presence across the website, LinkedIn, and internal systems.
  • High volume of support calls: global contractors using the Obi platform had no structured self-serve training, so the internal team fielded a large and growing volume of inbound queries.
  • Lack of website media: the Catalyst and Obi websites needed professional photography, videography, and hero content to establish credibility with enterprise clients.
  • No employer brand video: as the team scaled, attracting talent required a compelling careers narrative that didn't yet exist.
  • Event coverage gap: regular industry events with keynote speakers had no dedicated partner capturing and repurposing the content.

From a LinkedIn post to a long-term partnership

Eoin Leonard, CEO of Catalyst Group, first came across 5FilmsMedia on LinkedIn, a client had posted a video that caught his attention. He reached out and initiated what began as a pilot project: a series of help videos for the Obi software system.

OBI Academy: automating software training at scale

The most strategically significant workstream was producing instructional videos for the OBI Academy, Catalyst's internal, password-protected training platform for Obi software users worldwide.

We filmed multiple series of step-by-step videos covering the platform's modules: inspections, project management, ESG reporting, and onboarding. Advanced production techniques (screen-capture integration, annotated walkthroughs, structured narration) made complex software processes immediately accessible to non-technical users across different countries.
